Privacy Statement

SMACNA Detroit and Copper Range appreciate your interest in their services and your visit to the Training Management System for SMACNA Detroit ("Site" or "TMS"). The Site is hosted by Copper Range. The protection of your privacy is an important concern to which we pay special attention during our business practices. Below is a detailed accounting of what information we collect from users of our Site, how we collect that information, how we use that information, how we ensure that information is not misused, and what control users of the Site have over the information. This statement supplements the privacy information present in the Site's Terms of Use agreement.

COLLECTED INFORMATION

Copper Range collects information from registered users of the Site through a variety of mechanisms. Some of these mechanisms are apparent to our users and some are not.

Apparent Information Collection

During the use of the TMS, Copper Range collects two classes of information, "Service Content" and "User Content". Service Content is any materials, files, communications, and documents posted by users in conjunction with the service. This includes things like safety training certifications manually entered, online safety modules completed within the Site, or other credential status imported from other Copper Range managed databases. All other user-supplied or SMACNA Detroit-supplied information, excluding the Service Content, is referred to as User Content. This includes things like the information provided when setting up a user account with our Site. Both Service Content and User Content are supplied explicitly by users or SMACNA Detroit through paper-based and online-based form submittals and are stored in a Copper Range database. The online-based form submittals may occur via Web browsers running on computers or through integrations with Third Party databases.

Two subclasses of User Content that Copper Range collects are "Contact Information" and "Billing Information". Contact Information is collected from all registered users of its services. This information includes things like: user's full name, username, password, phone number, e-mail address, address, demographic information, and work classification data. Copper Range collects Billing Information for each company listed on the Site. Billing Information consists of information such as a billing contact name, a company name, mailing address, and telephone number.

Non-Apparent Information Collection

Copper Range also collects information about users that is implicitly supplied by users during their use of a Copper Range service. This information is saved in Log Files and Database Tables on Copper Range's servers, and in Cookies on a user's client computer. Copper Range tracks what, when, by whom, and from where Service Content is created, deleted, downloaded, uploaded, and viewed. Copper Range also tracks when users become registered, deregistered, and when registered users log into a service.

Regarding Cookies, Copper Range uses them solely to make using the Site more efficient for users. Copper Range does NOT presently use cookies to track user activity on the Site, but may do so in the future. Users of Copper Range's services must enable cookies in their Web browsers to use the services.

INFORMATION SHARING

In general, Copper Range may access all Apparent and Non-Apparent information it collects in order to:

  • perform system administration
  • respond to court orders
  • comply with legislation
  • investigate complaints
  • protect others from liability or damage
  • perform services for SMACNA Detroit

Copper Range does not share any information it collects with third parties other than SMACNA Detroit unless noted below. While Copper Range may use Third Party Hosting Services (TPH Services) in order to complete any or all of its services, these TPH Services do not have any knowledge or custody of the Apparent and Non-Apparent Information on the Site.

Service Content and User Content

In general, content is shared among users of the TMS. Every Copper Range site has a user permissions structure that limits which users can view which types of information. The user permission structure for this Site is available upon request to customers by emailing support@copperrange.com.

Service Content or User Content is shared with a third party provider of credentials (such as a Learning Management System, as chosen by SMACNA Detroit) in order to connect any results with the user when information is returned to our Site or to assist the third party in managing the creation of the credential in question. The content shared for this purpose could be any combination of the following: the name of the user or name of the worker a user is managing, a unique identifying number (like MUST ID), the person’s employer and/or union local affiliation, and billing/contact information at the employer and/or union local.

User Content is shared with another Copper Range hosted Management System for the purpose of retrieving a user's relevant Service Content. With SMACNA Detroit approval, the TMS automatically requests credential status information using a user's name, MUST ID, and local affiliation.

In general, Copper Range uses Billing and Contact information only to effect billing that may take place between Copper Range and its registered users, and to alert its registered users of new services or changes to existing services. Copper Range also uses Service Content and User Content to provide customer support to SMACNA Detroit and other current users of the Site.

Non-Apparent Information

The Non-Apparent Information that Copper Range collects is used to serve as a means to resolve disputes that may arise among registered users or between registered users and Copper Range.

SECURITY

Copper Range makes every effort to follow customary security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, and corruption of the information under our control, but there is no such thing as perfect security, so site users assume all risk of wrongful access. For Copper Range services, all information is encrypted during its transmission between a registered user's computer and a Copper Range server, and vice versa. Copper Range does its best to ensure that its databases are accessible only to legitimate registered users through Copper Range sanctioned interfaces, and to authorized Copper Range system administrators.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13 and do not allow access by such persons. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received Personal Information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete such information from our records.

INFORMATION ACCESS & CONTROL

In our Site, users have access to their own Contact Information via a link on the home page titled "Change Profile". In general, all Contact Information can be edited on this page, although editing ability is restricted for some User Levels. Some Service Content can be edited or removed within the processes of the Site. The remaining Service Content and the Billing Information can be edited or removed by contacting us at support@copperrange.com.
